HEAVILY FINED FOR EVADING INCOME TAX.

(Received December 19, 10.10 a.m.) BRISBANE, December 19 A fine of £IOO, in default six months' imprisonment, was imposed on Harold Savidge. a medical practitioner, for having submitted a false income tax return. Defendant was also ordered to pay double the amount of the tax evaded, which amounted approximately to £l7s.—Australian Press Association.
