ARRANGEMENTS MADE FOR REGATTA TO BE HELD AT KAIRAKI.
Further arrangements for the Christchurch regatta to be held on the Waimakariri near Kairaki on Saturday, January 26, were made at a meeting oi the Christchurch Regatta Club last night. Mr F. D. Kesteven presided, and the following were also present: Messrs W. Duggan, H. H. Berry, F. Rogers, D. Boyd, 11. Layton, A. T. Evans, D. Boyd, R. R. Spooner, F. C. Godfrey and R. J. Hobbs. Mr F. C. Godfrey, having been elected a member of the club, was appointed secretary on a unanimous vote. Mr Godfrey, who was welcomed to the meeting, succeeds Mr R. R. C. Spooner, who filled the office for about seven years. An application from the Waimakariri Power Boat Club to conduct a powerboat race in connection with the rowing programme, was granted. Mr W. Duggan's proposal that the resolution that the senior four events at the regatta should be rowed in Best and best boats, came up for discussion. Mr Duggan said that the extra expense of conveying best and best boats was not warranted. The race could be rowed in clinker fours, which could be used also for junior and youths’ “We ought to set a standard, and have the race in best and best boats,” urged Mr R. J. Hobbs. “We are becoming somewhat lax about these things.” Mr Duggan’s motion was lost. Admission to Mr H. MTntosh's paddock, along the site of the regatta site of the regatta course, was fixed at Is for adults and 6d for school children. The following programme was approved; events to be rowed in order:— Senior double sculls, maiden fours, youths double sculls, senior fours, junior double sculls, youths’ fours, maiden double sculls, junior fours, senior pairs, light-weight maiden fours, motorboat race. The senior double sculls, senior fours, and senior pairs are to be rowed in carvel built boats, and the other events in association clinkers. Officials were appointed as follow: Starter, Mr H. H. Berry, umpire, Mr W. S. Godfrey; judges, Messrs H. M’lntosh, R. E. Nightingale, and D. Lee; result board official, Mr R. E. Nightingale; Gate Committee. Messrs R. J. Hobbs, \\ Poison, G. 11. Hobbs, and R R. Spooner: Programme Committee, Messrs H. Layton and F. Booth; Course Committee, Messrs W. Duggan, 11. 11. Berry, R. E. Nightingale, and A. T. Evans; Weighing-in Committee, Messrs F. L. Booth and D. Boyd.
