SWIMMING.
WALTHAM CLUB. Warm sunshine favoured the opening of the season by the Waltham Club this afternoon. Mr T. H. Armstrong, M.P. patron of the club, formally declared the baths open for the season. An interesting programme of racing resulted as follows: 25yds Junior Handicap—First heat: M. Todd (scr) 1, A. Vivian (7sec) 2. Second heat: H. Mortlock (scr) 1. L Grafton (2sec) 2. Final: Mortlock 1 Grafton 2. Time—2lsec. 25yds Senior Handicap—E. Deane (scr) 1. Three starters. Time—lß 3-5 Learners, width (girls)—J. Rawlings 1, E. Smith 2. 25yds (girls)—T. Smith (scr) 1, J. Rawlings (Bsec) 2. Dive (open)—L. Grafton 1, Miss Hill 2, B. Hardy 3. Egg and Spoon Race—E. Deane 1, Miss Hill 2. The various prizes were presented by Mr Armstrong.
