SCHOOL OF ART SKETCH CLUB.
On Saturday evening there was an exhibition of work of the Sketch Club held in the School of Art. The set subjects for the evening were: (senior) stage setting for. “The Merchant of Venice” and (junior) to illustrate “The Babes in the Wood.” Prof. J. Shelley was critic for the evening, and gave, a very interesting address on the advantages and disadvantages of various types of stage settings. The prize in the senior section was awarded to Dir Colin Loved-Smith, while the set submitted by Miss Lucy Benham was highly commended. In the junior section the prize went to Miss Nancy Webster. At the conclusion of the criticism a vote of thanks proposed by Mr John Oakley, on behalf of the members of the club, was passed to Professor Shelley.
