SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT.
SUMNER AND AKAROA. The following: are the results of a tourney between the District High Schools of Akaroa and Sumner. The games were played at Akaroa, whera the visiting pupils were hospitably ntej-tained. Tennis. Girls' Doubles. (Akaroa names first). Mary Craddock and Pat Buckland 6. beat Aileen Smith and Marjorie Chambers 6; Noel Henning and Nancy Robinson 2, lost to Eleanor Turnbull and Phyllis Smith 6; Lucy Henning and Winnie Innes 6, beat Una Bullock and Edna FenSingles—Mary Craddock lost to Aileen Smith 5-6; Pat Buckland beat Mar-jorie Chambers 6-1; Noel Henning lost to Eleanor Turnbull 5-6; Nancy Robinson lost to Phyllis Smith 0-6; Lucy Henning lost to Una Bullock 1-6; Winnie Innes -lost to Edna Fenton 4-6. Boys Doubles--—MacDonald and Robinson lost to Lindroos and Langdale •5-6; Brocherie and Phillips beat Weas- , ell arid Mulholland 6-0; Priest and .’etersen lost to Carpinter and MacLachian 1-6. Boys Singles—MacDonald beat Langdale 6-2; RobinsOn lost to Lindroos 2-6; Priest lost to M’Lachlan 0-6. umbined—M'Donald and Mary Craddock beat Lindroos and Aileen Smith 6-5; Brocherie and Noel Henning beat Weastell and Eleanor Turnbull 6-2. Totals: Akaroa 67, Sumi-* 79. Football. The local team -was much stronger han the visitors and scored an eas> victory 35-0. Mr Arnold was referee. Basket-Ball. This match was very keenly contested ind resulted in a win fox* Akaroa by IS to 10. Miss Cooper was referee. Visit to Otahuna. Permission having very kindly been granted by Sir Heaton Rhodes, of TaJ Tapu, the Sumner pupils stopped on their return journey to see the wonder ful display of narcissi. After a dellg ful half hour amongst the blooms th continued their return journey Christchurch.
