The numbered squares arfe the starting points for word , extending across or down, or both. One letter to a square Words end at first black square encountered or border of puzzle Pick out a word that fits a given definition and space. This gives you a clue to other words that cross it, and they in turn to still other words. The solution will appear in next issue.

DOWN.
