BRITISH SAILORS’ SOCIETY.

The New Brighton branch of the British Sailors’ Socoiety met in the Oasis on Tuesday. The president, Mrs H. A. Bishop, presided. The secretary read the monthly reports from the missioner at Lyttelton, in which he stated that during the past two months 32 officers and 1616 men had been entertained at the institute at Lyttelton, 30 ships bad been visited, and various visits had been made to men in hospital. It was decided to hold a “bring and buy” afternoon in the near future, and the secretary was instructed to issue invitations to the members and their friends. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mrs Jarvis.
