CANADA’S HERO.
Judging by the reception that was accorded Percy Williams, the Vancouver schoolboy, on his return from the Olympic Games, Canadians are great athletic enthusiasts. According to the caitics, it was hoped to raise £SOOO to send Williams to the university, and he was also the recipient of the gift of a motor-car. Williams was the dark horse of the recent Olympiad, and when he
l won both the 100 metres (10 4-ssec) and the 200 metres (21 4-ssec), Americans were busily engaged in explaining that he had received his athletic training at the New York University. As a matter of fact, Williams is a native-born Canadian, and at the Canadian championships he won the 100yds in 9 3-ssec and the 100 metres in 10 &-ssee. The furlong he won in 22sec.
