LATE SOCIAL NEWS.

BURPBXSB PARTY. A surprise party was held at the residence of Mrs P. Barnes, 45, York Street, Opawa, recently, the occasion being a farewell to Mr and Mrs Barnes, who are going to the North Island to take up their residence. Musical items were contributed by Mr and Mrs J. Boughen. Mr J. Puddle officiated at the piano. During the evening the opportunity was taken to present Mr and Mrs Barnes with a handsome pair of antique vases and bronze fire tidy, as a token of the esteem in which they were held in the district.
