Shops were deserted, and thousands of busy women and. men thronged the streets this afternoon to see the Southern Cross over the city. The sides of the roads were crowded, and the few motorists who had not stopped to look at the ’plane had a difficult time getting through tho absorbed rowd. For a few minutes retail trade was at a standstill. The big 'plane followed Colombo Street to the Square, and turned, with a sweep, towards the ’drome.' Thousands of people wished they were in the ’plane, and thousands more declared they “ wouldn’t go up in it for quids.” SECOND FLIOHT. (Continued from Page 10.)
