GIVES HINT OF UNITED PARTY PLAN.
SIR J. G. WARD SPEAKS IN HOUSE ON CAMPAIGN. (Special to the " Stay. ") WELLINGTON, September 26. A hint of Sir Joseph Ward’s plan of campaign as leader of the new United Party during the coming general election campaign was given in the House of Representatives to-night, during his speech on the taxation question. “I don't propose to ramble through every electorate,” said Sir Joseph. “I shall make a policy speech, and what I have .to say I shall say somewhere. I have no doubt that those people who are interested in political matters will be able to read what I have said wherever they may be.” This brief indication of electioneering plans was given in reply to an interjection by the Minister of Education, the Hon R. A. Wright, who sought to know whether Sir Joseph regarded the land tax system now in operation as sound. Sir Joseph's direct retort to this question was that he did not intend to deal with questions of policy in the course of an unprepared speech in the House.
