BANKRUPTCY CASE AGAINST MISSING RECTOR FAILS.
SETTLEMENT HAD BEEN OPENED PREVIOUSLY. (United Prenu Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright) (Received September 27, 1 p.m.) LONDON, September 26. The bankruptcy petition against the Rev F. Hutchinson (the “missing rector”) was dismissed, (he matter having previously been settled.—Australian Press Association—United Service. On September 10, the Rev Franklin Hutchinson, the former rector of Doddinghurst, whose reported disappearance caused a mild sensation recently, cabled from Canada asking for funds to enable him to return to England. He has also written to the Bishop of Chelmsford asking to be allowed to resume the Doddinghurst rectorship. The parishioners have made a similar appeal, but the Bishop declares that the living has been sequestrated and his decision is irrevocable. The Rev Franklin Hutchinson, who was once curate of St John’s, East Malvern, disappeared while on a holiday, but was afterwards traced to Canada. He was alleged to be in financial difficulties. Subsequently he resigned from the rectorship.
