“AWAKEN MILITARY SOUL OF COUNTRY.”
GERMAN MINISTER ADDRESSES TROOPS. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received September 27, 1 p.m.) BERLIN, September 26. Forty thousand people lined the road between Gorlitz and Ilennersdorf and enthuriastical i v cheered the march past, ending the Reichswehr's autumn manoeuvres. President Hir.denburg. in a fieldmarshal's uniform, surrounded by resplendent officers and foreign attaches., reviewed the troops. Herr Groenen, Minister of the Reichswehr, addressing the troops, said: “It is our duty to awaken the public's pride and affection for the Reichswehr —awaken and reinforce the military soul of the country, which is regretting the poverty of weapons permitted the Reichswehr by the Treaty of Versailles.” He declared that the suggestion that it was the most modern p my in the world was only a political excuse used by its enemies to cloak their evasion of the obligation to disarm. Germany’s duty was to carry on an unceasing fight for equality in the matter of armaments. The Berlin correspondent of the “Morning Post” describes the review and speech as an illuminating sidelight on the disarmament debate at Geneva. —Australian Press Association-United Service.
