HER 36,000 th APPLE.

(Special to the “ Star.”) LONDON, August 25. Mrs H. Bier ton, the oldest resident of the North London Home for the Aged Christian Blind, Islington, is 100 to-day. She attributes her long life to eating a green apple every day. “ I do not approve of jazz, and modern dancing is not like it used to be,” she said. “ Give me the oldfashioned waltz. I had a grand time in my early days, and used to dance once a week.” Mrs Bierton can recall Queen Victoria’s Coronation, when, as a little girl, she went to Hyde Park and stayed there all night watching the fireworks.
