NEW PETROL PIPE REQUIRED FOR THE SOUTHERN CROSS.

As far as the ground work is concerned, the Southern Cross is practically ready to undergo her trial flights. When she landed at Christchurch, it was discovered that one of the petrol pipes was leaking slightly and some difficulty is being experienced in finding a similar piece of piping in the Dominion. The pipe is a flexible one, sheathed in copper, of much the same type as is used on the alemite motor greasing system. Up till last evening, it had not been possible to secure a suitable piece of tubing in Christchurch, and if another cannot be found, an attempt will be made to effect repairs to the damaged one.
