SPIRITUALISM.

To th* Editor. Dear Sir, —In replying to G.R.B.’s egotistical giggle, I would first thank him for the excellent honour of being the Text King of correspondents, and may I express my opinion, that for an unlettered man to receive such honour from a lettered man such as G.R.B. is something to be proud of. But, Sir, is it not bluff, so as to obscure the issue which was that all religions were a transformation from the return of the spirit of man; that polytheism had eight hundred and ten millions of adherents -which are Spiritualist, against three hundred and seventy-five millions of adherents; that he got behind a fence, to sling mud at his own religion; that the death of Essenism gave birth to Christianity, and that he cannot! offer one repelb'ng word against the above issues ? He says that as evidence of Spiritualism, being a Divine truth, I would invoke the shades of ancient Occultism. No, any truth is divine, and the very fact that the men of the old Stone Age roamed the earth without a God, religion, or any articulate speech, and that at the beginning of the new Stone Age the spirit of man returned is in itself a divine truth that life is one continual path of progress: Now. Sir. regarding G.R B.’s sneer at the “Rig-Veda" or the Sarwa-Yeda.” may I refer him to the “Christian Examiner,” which says that “the best precepts of the Christian Bible are contained in the Hindoo Baghavat." And St Hilaire declares love for all beings js its nucleus; and love to our enemies. Max Muller says, “Jts moral code, taken by itself, is one of the most perfect the world has ever known." And now that the Church is teaching a progressive revelation. G.R.B. should accept the heathen teaching with open arms, in place of a sneer. —I am, etc.. C. j. LEE.
