In the Riverslea Hunters’ Hurdles Ponjora was in a good position throughout, taking the lead half a mile from home, and winning comfortably. Ballyfamon was fourth. In the Abbotsford Handicap Imperial Spark, Good Sport an.d Kaiti ran in that order to the straight, where Kaiti passed the leaders, and went on to win Tiicely. Morose was fourth. The following are additional acceptances for the Dannevirke Racing Club and Hunt meetings:— Oringi Hack Handicap.—Handy 10.3. Dannevirke Hack Steeplechase.— Handy 10.13. Hunt Club Steeplechase.—Rangi Sarto 11.13. WANGANUI GALLOPS. (Special to the “Star.”) WANGANUI. August 25. There were some interesting gallops on the local tracks this morning. Tne weather was fine, but the going was heavy after yesterday's rain. Saltpetre and Jot Black were . associated in a half-mile spin, registering 45 4-ssec for the journey, and doing it nicely.

Episode and Mask hopped away together from the five furlongs post. The former showed slightly in front until the straight was reached, the pair finishing on terms in lmin 3 2-ssec. The first two furlongs were run in 25seo, and three in 38sec. It was a rattling good gallop on the holding track.

Kiosk went three furlongs by himself, his time being 37 4-ssec, the last two furlongs being done in 25 l-ssec. He was hitting out very freely, and is evidently going to be in great fettle for the Marton meeting.

Ceremony and Alloy were companions in a flutter over two furlongs, in which the former showed to most advantage. The brother to Lysgnder was a length to the good at the finish running along well within himself, his time being 25 l-ssec. Ceremony has not done much fast work, but with every gallop shows improvement, and he should be ready to hold his own with the best of his age at the Avondale meeting.

Lady’s Boy was slipped over • six furlongs, the last five being cut out in lmin Sisec. The gelding is engaged in the Hack Cup at Marton with 8.12, and promises to strip very fit.

The Potoa —Polly Perkins gelding, trained by R. S. Bagby, an<J a Night Raid filly, owned by J. A. Todd, slipped over three furlongs together. The filly bad the worst of the breakaway, but was up with the gelding after going a furlong, and the pair finished abreast in 39sec, neither being fully extended. Bisox has returned to Hawera looking none the worse for racing and travelling. It is expected that she will fulfil her engagement in the Marton Handicap. is showing improvement and shaped well in a gallop over six furlongs with Paitonu on Thursday. She is in the Marton Handicap at 7.4. Reremoana is getting through his preparation nicely and is expected to be ready to show good form in the New Zealand Eclipse Stakes at Wanganui next month. Royal Mint, who won the Marton Handicap last September, is carrying 7.3 i, Nukumai (8.12) being second. The former has 7.8 this year and Xukuinai 9.3. Royal Mint has been responsible for some good work recently and bis connections expect him to make a good showing in the coming race. Vivo and Partage are both galloping well and should not ‘be long in earning some, stake money. They are both engaged at Marton. Lysander has not been in work long but he is fining down nicely, and though he will take some time to reach top form, he should be ready to run good races at Wanganui. Bright Glow is not engaged at Mgr ton, but is to be a runner in the sprint events at Wanganui. She is hitting out well on the tracks at Hawera. f AUSTRALIAN RACING.
