AMATEUR ROAD RACE AT PAPANUI. A fifteen-mile road race was held by the Christchurch Amateur Cycling Club at Papanul this afternoon. Thirty-six riders started and an exciting finish resulted as follows: S. Campbell (ljmin), riding time 42min 48 3-ssec 1 W. J. Lamberton (l&min), 42min 48 4-Gsouc 2 A. R. Mutton (3min), 44min ISseC . . 3 W. J. Wilcoxon (ljmin), 42min 49 t-ssec 4 M. F. Pearl (2Jmin), 43rnin 49 2-5 sec 5 E. Rhodes (4&min), 45min 49 3-ssec 6 T. Gifford 44min 20 l-ssec 7 Fastest ' Time ' was secured by T O’Brien (scr), riding time 41ntin 39 4-5 sec, and second fastest by F. Grose (scr), riding time 41min 40sec.
