The sympathy of the citizens of Christchurch in the loss which Derry’s Band has sustained by the death of its conductor. Mr E. C. Derry, has been conveyed to the. secretary of the band by the Mayor, the Rev J. K. Archer. The Mayor stated in his letter that Mr Derry was always very willing to place the band at the service of the citizens when an effort was being made to raise funds for charitable purposes and on j special occasions, and his help in this \ connection was very much appreciated.
