On Saturday evening the members of the Women’s Progressive Club, Governor’s Bay. with their friends, enjoyed a delightful programme in aid of the library funds. Mrs Pairman presided. Those taking part were:—Mrs W. F. Greig (monologue), Misses Esmai, Dulcie and Constance Columbus and Mrs W. F. Greig (glee). Miss Caroline Small (songL Miss Peggy Allan and Mrs Pairman (duologue). The boys athenaeum orchestra p.layed several selections, which were much appreciated. The Glee Club also responded to a hearty encore. Supper was served by club members, after which an amusing comedy was played by Misses Avis, Dulcie and Constance Columbus, Messrs C. and TI. Crow and A. Butler. The usual votes of thanks and the ringing of the National Anthem .closed a successful evening. Willie and Tommy held the following conversation in our street recently “Aw,” Tommy, tauntingly, “You’re afraid to fight—that’s wot it is.” “Naw, I ain’t,” protested Willie stoutly, “but if I fight my ma’ll find it out and lick me.” "llow’ll she find it out, eh?” "She’ll see the doctor goin’ t’ your
