CRICKET COUNCIL IS CRITICISED.

FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT TOUR BALANCE-SHEET. Per Frees Association. WELLINGTON, August 21. The Council of the New Zealand Football Association met to-night. It was agreed that the 'match between "Wellington and Otago for the Football Association trophy should take place on September 1 subject to suitable arrangements being made. Arrangements tor the final of the Chatham Cup between Petone (Wellington) and Northern (Dunedin) at the Basin Reserve, Wellington, on Saturday have been completed. The Gover-nor-General and the Prime Minister had been invited to be present. The cup was at present in the possession of the Ponsonby (Auckland) Club and is to be wired for in order that it may be presented to the winners at the close of the match. Owing to the financial position of the association it was decided to write to the nine defaulting associations pressing for payment of their subscriptions. Attention was drawn to the delay in issuing a balance-sheet of the tour of the New Zealand cricket team to England. Mr F. Campbell (chairman), said that about a year ago the council took up £IOO worth of shares of which half were paid up in New Zealand Cricket Limited for the tour of the New Zealand cricket team to England. They were promised that when the manager returned to New Zealand the whole thing would be straightened up and they had heard no more from that day to this. It was time that they expressed an opinion that they were looking for a balance-sheet of that tour and for the return of any sum which might be due to them. It was very dilatory on the part of the New Zealand Cricket C-ouncil that the matter had been left ever so long. He moved: “that this association is very disappointed at the delay in publishing the balance-sheet, and in the repayment of any money invested in New Zealand Cricket Limited, and requests that body to furnish us with a statement.” -Mr J. A. Milburn seconded the motion, which was carried. It was thought that the council might get back 4s or os for each 10s paid up.
