ALL MEN ARE LIARS!
Two ministers of the Church are members of the Hospital Board. To-day they differed for a moment as to who was the author of the statement: ‘All men are liars.” “It was St. Paul,” said Rev Clyde Carr, "who said that all men are liars.” “No,” interrupted the Rev. J. K. Archer, “it was the psalmist. He said: ‘I said in my haste all men are liars.’ ” Mr Carr: It was St. Paul who said— The Chairman: Never mind St. P&uL Mr Carr: I am speaking >to the motion. I was thinking of this old example of a logical fallacy:— St. Paul says the Cretans are liars. The Cretans say that all men are liars. Therefore what the Cretans say i 3 not true. Therefore all men axe not liars. Therefore what the Cretans say is true. Therefore all men are liars. Therefore St. Paul is a liar.
