Flight To N.Z. May Be Delayed Another Month.

(Received August 22, 11.30 a.m.) PERTH, August 22. MORE rain precluded the Southern Cross flyers hopping off from Maylands, and it may be two more days before they leave. Fears are entertained by Squadron-Leader Ivingsford Smith that tile New Zealand flight may have to be postponed another month, especially if they arc delayed at Maylands beyond Saturday, in which case they will miss the full moon.—Australian Press Association.

KINGSFORD SMITH WILL SEND DETAILS OF ARRANGEMENTS. Confirmation of September 1. or thereabouts, as the date when the Tasman flight will be undertaken is forthcoming in a letter to the secretary of the Canterbury Progress League (Mr P . R. Climie), from Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smifh and Flight-Lieutenant Ulm. co-commanders of the Souther!) Cross. The letter is dated August S. which suggests that it was written be-,

Ifcre the aviators' departure for Perth. The letter expresses gratification at the arrangements which have been I made for the reception of the aviators at the Wigrain. Aerodrome, and reI affirms the flyers’ previous statement that they anticipated that their flight . to New Zealand would take place about September 1. They intend, as soon as definite arrangements have been made, to forward particulars to i Christchurch. A full statement of the whole of the local arrangements that have been made for reception of the Tasman flyers will be published in a few days 1 , time.
