FARMERS FAVOUR BILL FOR LOCAL SUMMER TIME.

That local daylight-saving would not affect the farmers, and therefore they were not opposed to it, was a conclusion arrived at this afternoon by the North Canterbury provincial execu tive of the Farmers’ Union. A motion along these lines will be forwarded to the Dominion executive of the union, which asked for the provincial executive’s opinion. The president (Mr R. T. M’Millan) . Railway and steamer services and the Post and Telegraph Department will not be affected.

Mr C. M’lntosh said that he did not think that local daylight saving would interfere with the farmer. If boroughc. wished to have it they should be allowed to work out their own salvation The essential services connecting town and country would not be interfered with. The speaker moved that the executive could see no objection to the introduction of the measure. The motion was carried unanimously.
