LATE MR J. E. R. SMITH.
THE FUNERAL. A large number of people attended the funeral of the late Mr Smith, the cortege leaving Dyer’s Pass Road for Bromley Cemetery. The Revs 11. J. Odell. Laurenson, and F. T. Read officiated at the graveside. The pallbearers were Messrs Ewart Smith, J. E. Chamberlain, T. Chamberlain, and B. Undrill.

A fine tribute to the memory of their late head master was paid by the pupils of Somerfield School, who stood respectfully at attention ■while the cortege passed, and the Aranui children assembled at the entrance to the cemetery.
