An influential group of Japanese capitalists has secured rights from the Commonwealth Government to exploit iron ore deposits at Yampi Sound, in Western Australia, and a party of Japanese have just completed a fortnight’s inspection of the deposits there. Safe accommodation for ships has been found in the Sound. The Japanese organisation concerned expects to spend £10,000,000 in Japan in treating the ore from Yampi, which is very rich and capable of yielding a million tons annually, after about the third year.—r Australian Press Association.
