(Received August 20, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, August 19. _ The International Opium Convention, signed at Geneva in February, 1925, having now received the requisite number of ratifications, an Order-in-Council has been issued stating that the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1925, which amended the law to enable effect to be given to the Convention, will come into operation on September 25. The chief alterations made will be the extension of control to Indian hemp and the resin obtained from it, namely, hashish, and to any extract of the tincture of Indian hemp, and to preparations containing less than onetenth per cent of diacetyl morphineheroin mash, all of which up to now have been exempted. After September 25 a license will be required for the importing and exporting of any of these drugs.—British Official Wireless.
