That it should be compulsory for all school teachers to have university degrees was urged by Professor R. S. Conway at tin- luncheon tendered to him to-day l»y members of the Canterbury College Board of Governors. “In some things this Dominion has led the world,” said the professor. ‘‘.lt was the first to give suffffrage to women. Why don’t you insist that no one who has not a University degree shall teaph in your schools? A great, rich Dominion like this has no right to send its children to be taught by half-educated people.
