LATE PERSONAL.
. Mr Justice Adams, who had been indisposed in the last few days, was recovered sufficiently to preside over the sitting of the Supreme Court today.
The death is announced of Thomas William Heney, aged sixty-four, says a Sydney cable. He was formerly editor of the “Sydney Morning Herald,” and later of the “Daily Telegraph.” Thomas William Heney entered journalism in the service of the “Sydney Morning Herald ” in 1878, being associate editor from 1899 to 1903 and editor from 1903 to 1918. On being appointed one of the Australian Press delegates to Britain, France and America he resigned his position, but in 1920 accepted the editorship of the “ Telegraph,” Brisbane. This he held until 1924 when he returned to Sydney to edit the “ Sydney Morning Herald,” from which position he retired in 1926. He is the author of a number of publications including poems and novels. The Rev B. H. Ward, who, for the past seventeen years has occupied the position of librarian to Victoria University College, died on Friday last. He retired from the librarianship six months ago. Mr Ward came to New Zealand with his wife and family some twenty-four years ago, and though in indifferent health. occupied various charges for some few years, in the Church of England, ultimately accepting the librarianship of Victoria College. He was a graduate of London University and an accomplished classical scholar, and took a keen interest in Biblical problems and studies. He occupied various charges in England before coming to New Zealand—the last being at Ripple Church in Worcester. In New Zealand he was vicar of Pic ton for some time, but retired on account of ill-health. He did excellent work* as librarian of Victoria University College. He is survived by his widow and four daughters and three sons.
