BETTER HEALTH.
A MATTER OF PROPER FOOD.
According: to Bernard Macfadden, America’s foremost authority on physical culture, there was never a time in the history of the world, whein the human diet was worse’ than it is to-day. “We are starving: in the midst of plenty,” says Macfadden, “and every day people are dying: prematurely because of their pitiful ignorance on the subject of what to eat and how to eat in order to maintain vitality at its high-water mark.” Use wholemeal products, and once you have found where you can buy the real wholemeal bread and you accustom yourself to its use, you will notice the appreciable difference in your energy and general health. Because wholemeal is “brown,” it does not follow that brown bread is wholemeal. Many “brown” breads lack the valuable nutritive elements of the wheat germ, and it is therefore necessary, as Macfadden points out, to select a loaf which is vouched for by a reputable firm as being actually made from guaranteed wholemeal. So far as the bread made in Christchurch is concerned, there are various kinds retailed, either as “brown” or “wholemeal.” It can be confidently stated however, that the loaf sold in most shops and which is well known as Woodward’s wholemeal bread, conforms in every respect to the highest standards of a wholemeal health-giving bread, Mr Woodward having made a particular study of its manufacture, in order to incorporate all the essentials advocated by the most eminent health author!ties. 9440
