ELEVENTH ROUND. The eleventh round of the Canterbury Hockey Association competitions was played this afternoon in fine j weather, and on good dry grounds. ST ALBANS V. TECHNICAL B. St Albans commenced one man short. The opening stages were very even, i Technical secured, a free hit a few yards outside their opponents’ circle, but ; Hahn Shot wild. Shortly after Stewart narrowly missed scoring. Technical kept on the attack and Trott had a shot which was stopped by Rogers, but Hahn followed in and scored. Technical 1, St Albans 0. St Albans got well down, and Franklin had a shot which went behind. Technical forced play into St Albans circle, where Stewart had a push shot which Rogers saved, and Cockroft put behind. A centre by Bastion enabled Cockroft to pass to Hahn, who found the net with a backhander. Technical 2, St Albans 0. Technical were having the better of the game, and Cockroft hit behind. E. Bastion secured on the line and coming in secured the bjfll off Lucas and scored easily. Half time score:— Technical 3, St Albans 0. Technical had the bettor of the opening stages of the second spell, and a centre i»y Hahn was u »nto nnet by Bastion. Technical 4. St Albans 0. Clever play by Ilolin put Mott in possession, but Lucas mt clear .i nn started a passing rush for Technical, but Rogers kicked clear. Lucas sent St Albans away, but Franklin was stopped in the circle. Hah . scaiweo a p ing rush for Technical, which was spoilt by a breach, and Franklin carried play back to the Technical end. Scott secured at half-way, and centred to Bastion, the latter just missing the net. A corner gave Technical a chance, and Scott added to the score. Technical 5. St Albans 0. St Albans set off, and gained a penalty corner, which was spoilt by wild shooting. From the bully Austin transferred to Bastion, who put in solo run and scored easily. Technical 6, St Albans 0. Technical secured a penalty corner, which Williamson cleare'd well. The final score was:— TECHNICAL B .* 6 ST ALBANS 0 Referee—Air AV. If. Down. TRINITY v. VAItSIT Y. Trinity opened promisingly, gaining a penalty corner, but Loney cleared it. C. Rogers sent into tho Varsity circle, Graham mulling the chance. Play was transferred to the other end, where Williamson had an unsuccesstm shot. Tr.nity kept up a solid pressure for some time, and at last their efforts were rewarded by Graham finding the net. Iron a corner Collins secured in Yarsity s circle, but he was penalised for sticks. Varsity woke up, Holland being prominent with a good run. The Varsity forwards returned again, and Huston equalised the scores with a. clinking shot. Collins and Graham initiated an attacking movement for Trinity, several corners proving abortive. Halftime came with the scores:— Trinity 1, Varsity 1. On icsuming Varsity attacked, Huston centred, for Williamson to narrowly miss the posts. Davis sent the Trinity forwards away, but they were penalised for offside. C. Rogers passed to Collins, who transferred to Hay, the Varsity goalkeeper saving. Ford put in a fast run to Trinity's twenty-five, but Perham intercepted his centre. From a scramble in Trinity’s goal mouth Williamson poked the ball into the net, giving Varsity the lead. Trinity pressed solidly, several corners being cleared. The Trinity inside trio tried a combined movement, and they were unlucky in not scoring. Time was called with no alteration to the score. Varsity 2. Trinity 3. Referee: Air C. Bellamy. SYDENHAM v. TECHNICAL A. Technical started one short. Up and down play followed for a spell. With Sydenham doing most, of the attacking Tecnnical took the offensive, and from a scramble in the goal mouth Coffey netted. Long forward passes saw the ball in Technical’s area, but a corner was cleared. Technical attacked, and Hewinson and Coffey were prominent in the rush from which Teague scored their second goal. Several attempts to score by Sydenham resulted in the hall going outside. Sydenham kept tip the pressure, and T.angridge scored from close range with a lucky shot. Oracle received a long pass «»n the right and returned the ball to Teague, who shot for Technical, but he hit outside the circle. Several corners in Technical's territory were cleared. A forward rush by Technical looked promising, but Coffey spoilt the effort. A similar movement in which Hewinson and Hill were prominent resulted in Oracle registering for Technical. Half time came with the score:— Technical 3, Sydenham 1. On resumption Technical attacked hotly and play hovered in Sydenham’s area for a spell. Sydenham oganl.sed several determined rushes, and Biekup was kept busy. .lames secured on the left for Sydenham, but hit too hard and spoilt, the effort. Play now became fast with Technical on the defensive. Sydenham organised a. determined attack, and a third attempt by Rushbridge was successful. Teague (Technical) received an injury, but gamely resumed. The final whistle went with the score:— TECHNICAL A 3 SYDENHAM o Referees—Mr R. Oracle and Air L , Smith.
