EDGEWARE BOWLING CLUB HAD SUCCESSFUL YEAR.

The annual meeting of the Edgeware Bowling Club was held last night before a good attendance of members. Mr J. W. Beanlahd presided. Mr J. D. Colville, one of the foundation members, was elected a life member of the club. The annual report showed that the club had had a very successful year. The members had all worked together and it was to them that the committee owed its thanks. The balance-sheet showed that the finances were very sound. It was decided to play the usual competition matches during the coming year. Mr C. W. Johnston wrote to the club making the following suggestions:—(a) Champion pairs: That only one recognised skip be allowed in each pair. (b) Champion rinks: That only one recognised skip and third player be allowed in each rink. In the first case he thought it would induce a larger entry. Some of the medium players were of the opinion that the result was a foregone conclusion. In the second the result would be that the competition would be spread over a greater area of members. It was decided to leave the rules as they stand. Mr G. Good spoke regarding the donation of prizes. He said that in a number of the competitions there was no trophy, or the trophy was only held for a year. lie thought that the winners, of the competitions should receive something that they could Jeep. It was decided to refer the matter to the incoming committee. Whether a tearoom should be built on the western end of the pavilion was discussed at length. Mr W. Efford supported the proposition. Mr Norric said that there was ample accommodation now, and if the proposed building was put up it would be ”, p ire luxury. He said that there was still £sl owing on the present building. The secretary (Mr J. B. Borthwick) said that the green would have been used many times for matches against visiting teams if there had been sufficient accommodation in the way of teaIt was decided to approve of the addition and leave the question of the finance to the executive. The prizes won by the various members were presented. The prize-winners were:—Championship rinks, P. Munn, W. Ashby, G. N. Lucas and J. A. Hayman (s); championship pairs, P. Munn and J. A.
