CONGRESS DISCUSSES ANIMAL DISEASES.
(United Press Assn.— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received May 21, 9.10 a.m.) PARIS, May 20. The Congress on Epizootics has concluded. Over fifty delegates, including Mr Ileywood (Australia), Mr H. A. Reid (New Zealand) and Mr J. J. R. jackson (Great Britain) were present. Foot-and-mouth disease was the main problem discussed. A motion was adopted to continue research on the lines now followed. A paper read by Dr Burji (Switzerland) caused heated discussion, owing to difference of . opinion on the Continent relative to the treatment of this disease and resentment against police and sanitary supervision. Delegates viewed the State School of Veterinary Science, which Mr Heywood declares is more complete and better equipped than many medical schools in Australia. The delegates met Professors Vallee and le C-linche, who have undertaken, at colossal pains and expense and devoted their lives to discover a remedy for gaseous lymphadenitis in sheep. They disclosed nothing fresh fn their report since last Congress, and are awaiting reports from Australia and Argentina, following experiments. Australian Press Association.
