APPEAL UPHELD. The appeal of David Henry Law (Mr Upham) against the decision of Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., was upheld by Mr Justice Adams in a judgment given this afternoon. The appellant obtained judgment for £SO against) Ernest Halstead (Mr Lascelles). The case concerned the sale of a milk round by Halstead to Law.
STARTLING CHARGE AGAINST POLICE, j LONDON, May 20. Mrs Browne, wife of one of the men condemned for the murdering of Constable Gutteridge, in a start - ling letter to “Reynold's Sunday* News” on the Hyde Park ease and the police interrogation of Miss Irene Savage, says that on the day following the arrest of Browne, Scotland Yard men took her to the station at 10.30 in the morning and kept, her there till seven o’clock at night. They questioned her hour after hour. She had nothing to eat or drink and the child accompanying her cried bitterly, " Mummy, can't I have something to eat?” The police then provided .tea and rough She alleges that the questionin', was unceasing, the police saying: “ You must be aware of your husband's movements. What was he doing?” She was tired and worn out when she was allowed to go ut night. She said anything, she was so fatigued.—Australian Press Association.
