MANY ACCIDENTS OCCUR IN WEEK-END.

RAN INTO TRAM-CAR. Through his motor-cycle colliding w *th a tramcar at the intersection of Division and Riccarton Roads on Saturday evening. Edward Barnes, aged eighteen, of Main Street, Belfast, sustained injuries to his face and legs which necessitated his removal to the Christchurch Hospital, where he is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. COLLIDED WITH CAR. When cycling along Clarence Road, Riccarton, on Saturday afternoon, P. Horrell dollided with a motor-car, and had to be taken to the hospital to have his injuries attended to. His address is 5, Euston Street. TWO CARS COLLIDE. Two cars collided near the Styx Bridge, Marshland, about 1.45 p.m. yesterday. One was driven b£ Mr J. L. Laing. None of those in the cars was serioitsly injured. BROKEN LEG. Per Preaa Association. GISBORNE, May 19. While fishing on the breakwater this morning, a man named Peter Sweeney slipped and broke his leg. He commenced to crawl along the pier to seek assistance. Fortunately his plight was noticed by a passing tug, which signalled for assistance. The man was taken to hospital. RAILWAY EMPLOYEE’S DEATH. Per Press Association. OAMARU, May 19. John Bain, a railway employee, aged forty-six, fell under a truck on the wharf yesterday, both legs being badly injured. He was taken to hospital, where one leg was amputated, but he died this morning. BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 20. The body of an unknown man was found in the harbour this afternoon at 1 o’clock. The man is believe ed to have fallen off the wharf last night. FAMILY IN CAR SMASH. Per Presa Association. GISBORNE, May 20. As a result of a collision between two cars at Patutahi on Saturday evening, one car, driven’ by Francis Parker, a lorry driver, containing his wife and three children, went head first into a wide drain and fell on its side, the occupants being thrown out. Mrs Parker sustained broken riba, and chest and body bruises. Doris Parker, aged eleven years, had a wrist broken and abrasions, and Jack Parker, eight years, was cut about the legs. They were removed to the Cook Hospital, but none of the injuries are believed to be serious. Parker also suffered bruises. The occupants of the other car were unhurt.

FOUR MOTOR ACCIDENTS. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, May 20. Four men were admitted to the Southland Hospital on Saturday night, as a result of motor accidents. Albert Taylor and Michael Ross, who were knocked down by taxis, the former suffering from head injuries and Ross from fac-al abrasions and slight concussion, are progressing favourably, as is Leslie Stevens, who sustained slight concussion and cuts about the scalp through being knocked down by a car. Ilenry Rillston was admitted suffering from a fractured leg and a cut across the forehead, but his condition is not serious. He is said to have been riding a motor-cycle and collided with the car.
