SCARLET FEVER FIGURES SHOW MARKED INCREASE.
NOTIFICATIONS OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES. Last week’s figures show a substantial increase in the number of cases of scarlet fever in the Canterbury Health District. Notifications during the previous week dropped from 51 to 34, but the figures for the week ended noon to-day were 44, an increase of 10. Figures showing a comparison of the last two weeks are:— WEST COAST.
During the week one death occurred from tuberculosis in Canterbury. BOTTLE LAKE. The number of patients at Bottle Lake for scarlet fever shows a decrease on those of the previous week. There are now 153 in the institution, as compared with 170 for the previous week.
