law clerk remanded ON SERIOUS charge.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 19. Alexander Henry Martin, a law clerk, aged 26, was charged at the Police Court to-day with indecent assault on a male.
The Chifef-Detective applied for a remand until Thursday. The Magistrate (Mr Hunt) : Can’t he get surety? Mr Mackay: It may be he does not want to ask for surety. He could lodge any sum, say, £SOO, added counsel. “No,” replied the Magistrate, “he could get off to America. I want somebody to take an interest in him.” The remand was granted,’ bail being fixed at £250 and a surety of £250.
