RACING OFFICIAL FAREWELLED. A very pleasant function recently took place when a prominent racing official was f&rewelled prior to leaving the country. In the course of the evening, when the ail* was blue with smoke, he rose to make reply: “ Gentlemen,” he said, “ I see around me to-nigbt many happy faces. I hope it’s not because I’m going away.” No! The majority were smoking Bears’ Tobacco, the favourite Virginian blend.
