NORTH BEACH NOTES.

BOROUGH WORKS. Screenings have been spread on Bowhill Road, Marriotts Road and Saltaire Street. The Borpugh Council has decided to light tip the shelter under the Peace Memorial Hall. This shelter is very convenient for passengers waiting for trams or buses. SCHOOL. A most successful “working bee” took place at the North Beach School on Saturday afternoon last. Three scoops were used and good work done. CONCERT. On Tuesday evening a concert organised by Mr F. B. Skinner, was held in the North Beach Peace Memorial Hall, in aid of North Brighton School funds. The hall was well filled with an appreciative audience. Items were contributed by Misses Nancy Bowden, Muriel Chapman and Mavis Ritchie,' and Messrs Russell Sumner, Alec Day’, Perce Skinner, J. Mason, and F. C.’ Penfold. Miss Mabel Eaelesome was accompanists. On behalf of the School Committee, Mr E. A. M. Leaver thanked Mr Skinner and his party for the very fine entertainment provided. W.C.T.U. i The North Brighton Women’® Christ, jian Temperance Union Celebrated its i second birthday, on Tuesday afternoon, ; when a social gathering was held. The president, Miss B. M. Harband, presided, and welcomed the visitors. The i devotional exercises were conducted by ! Mrs C. Dixon. Four babies were initiated as members of the Cradle Roll. Representatives from the Christchurch, Lin wood, Spreydon, Papanui and Springston Unions conveyed birthday greetings to the branch. Musical item’s were contributed by Mesdames Eames and Goldman. The Rev D. Gardner Millar delivered an address, for which he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was served, and the birthday cake was cut bjr the president.
