“ EXIT SMILING ” NOW SHOWING AT THE STRAND THEATRE.
The new programme to be screened at the Strand Theatre this afternoon and evening will be headed by a film entitled “ Exit Smiling,” in which the leading role is played by Beatrice Lillie. This picture is said to be an hilarious burlesque of life with a travelling stage troupe and to depict the everydayevents of an actor’s existence. It shows the performances of fearsome melodramas in back country halls, and reveals a very humorous back-of-the-stage life. A sweet romance is said to run throughout the story-. Jack Pickford has the leading male role. “ The Monkey Talks,” starring Olive Borden, is the title of the second attraction. The story of this picture centres round the doings of a wonderful monkey that appears at a circus and is supposed to have the power of speech. The supporting programme will include a comedy, a picture showing the work of assembling motor-cars and topical gazettes.
