THE COMPETITIONS.
TO-DAY’S RESULTS. The competitions were continue® this morning at the Concert and Caledonian Halls. Following are , the results:— NATIONAL DANCE (Under ten.) Recalls: Miss Ngaire Anderson (Lower Riccarton); Miss Jean Dickson (Addington); Miss Pattie Marshall (Hillmorten). NATIONAL DANCE (Ten and under fourteen.) Recalls: Miss Bessie Kearney (Riccarton), Miss Jean Potts (Woolston), Miss Edith Mackay (Timaru), Master Gerald Geddes (Spreydon). Highly commended: Miss Zoe Rattray (Riccarton). Miss Joan Sutherland (St Albans). Miss Phyllis Gale (New Brighton), Master Percy Geddes (Spreydon). NATIONAL DANCE (Fourteen and over). Recalls: Miss Doris O’Connor (Addington), Miss Belle Peddie (Addington), Miss Emily Turner (St Albans). TO-NIGHT’S PROGRAMME. One of the classes for this evening’s entertainment at the Concert Hall is the men’s humorous impromptu speech. This is a class which is alwa}\s highly successful and no doubt it will again justify its inclusion in the programme. Among the musical items an important place will be occupied by the final of the piano solo for the Bristol Scholarship. This is an excellent competition, and some very clever and artistic playing should reward the audience. Another interesting class is that of ladies’ vocal solo and accompaniment. Other musical classes are the men’s Scottish song and contralto English song. The elocutionary numbers will consist of the ladies’ humorous recitation, girls’ recitation, “The Drop of Water,” and the oratorical display. Dancing classes are the national dance for children under ten, and the character dance under sixteen. The fifth section of the **Story Without Words” will also be presented. Day sessions arc held at the Concert Hall and the Caledonian Hall, morning and afternoon, and the finalists appear at the Concert Hall in the evening. Matinees will be held on Saturday afternoon in the Concert Hall and Caledonian Hall at 2 p.m.. when some of the most attractive juvenile classes will be presented. The finalists will appear at the Concert Ilall at 7.15 pm
