The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated April 2S from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— HEMP. The Manila market is quiet but. steady. “J” grade, May-July shipments, gold £3B 10s. Sisal, firm. Business has been done in spot and afloat at £37, No.-1; and £35 5s to £35 10s No. 2. Later positions meet less inquiry. New Zealand: Small business reported in Highpoints for May-June shipment at £32 ss: fair £29, and afloat £29 15s. Shippers now ask £29 10s for May-June shipments of fair grade, but buyers’ ideals are £29: common £2B 10s; No. 2 tow £2O 10s, and No. 3 £lB. WOOL. The Bradford market is easier owing to the lack of demand for tops and yarns. Buyers cautious, waiting indications of wool values at next sales. Present quotations for tops are:—64's (merino), warp 4s 7d per lb. average 4s 6d per lb: 58’s (super half-bred), 3s (*4d per lb; 50’s (half-bred), 2s 9id per lb; 40’s, prepared, 2s lid per lb. TALLOW. There was no auction this week as only a small quantity was available. The market was quiet at last quotaA FPLES. The Mat.aroa is now unloading, hut none of her cargo has been sold as yet. The market is quiet.. Current prices are: —Cox’s Orange, 13s to 17s per case; Cleopatra, 13s to 16s per case; Jonathan and Delicious, 12s to 14s per case: Dunn’s Eavourlte, London Pippin and Ribston Pippin, 10s to 11s 6d per case PEARS. The Mataroa is on hand. Comice very wasty, Beurre Bose, Winter Cole and Josephine fully ripe and some waste, others sound. Opening prices:— Comice, noT quoted; Beurre Bose, 2s 6d to 4s per tray; Josephine and Winter Nelis, 4s per tray: Packham, Vicar of Winkfleld and Winter Cole, 2s 3d to 2s 6d per tray. PROPERTY MARKET.
