TRAMWAYS LOST LARGE AMOUNT.
EVIDENCE IS GIVEN TO COMMISSION.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 1. Mr Ford, tramways manager, in a statement to the Transport Commission, said that the revenue which it was estimated had been lost through bus competition, including reduced receipts through low fares for the three years from April 1, 1924, to March 31 1927, was £262,763.
cost of a complete bus service replacing the trams would be £819,567. The scrap value of the tramways would be £320,000.
