At the annual dinner and reunion of returned soldiers held at Waiau on Saturday night, very strong sentiments were expressed against the action of the City Council in trying to remove the guns from the city. Two returned soldiers, Messrs E. Stackhouse and F. C. Cole, who helped to capture one of the guns, spoke very strongly on the matter, and the following resolution was unanimously carried:—That this meeting of returned soldiers strongly endorses the action of the Christchurch R.S.A. in objecting to the removal of the guns and war trophies now in that city.
