WINTRY WEATHER IN THE CITY TO-DAY.
Wintry conditions prevailed in the city to-day, a steady easterly drizzle setting in early this morning. Chances of the weather clearing did not look promising, I>nt in the early afternoon conditions improved, although blue sky and sunshine failed to make an appearance. People seem to be quite prepared for adverse conditions now, and to-day heavy coats and umbrellas were much in evidence. It was reported that the level of the Waimakariri River was only a few inches above normal.
