NEED FOR INCREASED ACCOMMODATION FOR ADVANCED T.B. CASES

The Hon J. A. Young, Minister of Health, stated this morning that he was fully cognisant of the position in regard to accommodation for advanced cases of -tuberculosis at the Cashmere Sanatoria, and he had read the criticism expressed against the attitude of the Health Department.

Within a week or two, he added, he would set up a committee of two or three doctors from different parts of the Dominion to go thoroughly into the question and report to him. lie was taking this step because he wished to have all the facts before

him before taking j. any further action.

The Minister left for the south this morning. Before returning to Christchurch, he will confer with the Waipiata Committee regarding the treatment of tuberculosis cases. The Waipiata Committee is a- combination of a number of the smaller hospital boards in the South Island which has been set up for the purpose of dealing with tuberculosis cases.
