BOARDS POSTED IN MAIN HOTELS.
INFORM TRAVELLERS OF RAILWAY TIMES.
Throughout the country the Railway Department intends asking permission to erect notice-boards in the main hotels of the principal centres, with the idea of giving in tabloid form the times of departure
and arrival of all trains which serve a particular centre. This should be of great convenience to travellers, who will be saved the necessity of hunting through the many pages of the time-table which is issued in booklet form. The idea origi-
(Originated Idea.) nated in the mind of the business agent, New Zealand Railways (Mr F. Pawson), who personally supervised the distribution of about a dozen boards among Christchurch hotels today. Mr Pawson states that as far as Christchurch was concerned,- only the times of trains running to and from this centre would be listed, under the headings of the particular lines. In this way travellers could see at a glance when to catch or to meet a train.
The boards are about two feet long by fifteen inches in width, and are attractively mounted. The notice, which will be posted inside the glass fronts, have artistry as well as convenience to recommend them.
