HIGHWAYS BOARD TO VISIT NORTHERN PART OF SOUTH ISLAND.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. March 22. The Main Highways Board further considered this week schedules for the secondary roads it proposes to include in the national scheme, but was unable to reach finality. At its previous meeting the board decided upon a length of approximate ]y 2600 additional miles of highway leaving 400 miles to be selected at a later date to bring the total up to 3000 miles. A number of recommendations made by district Highway Council*, were referred back to the councils concerned, all the necessary details not having been supplied by them. The board has arranged to visit the northern portion of the. South Island next month, commencing on April 13.
