GOLF.

N.Z. ASSOCIATION. At the monthly meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Golf Association held on March o, the chairman (Mr W. E. A. Gill) welcomed the new member of the council, Mr M. J. Crombie. and made reference to the valuable services Mr Crombie has already rendered to golf in connection with the Miramar Golf Club. Other members of the council present at the meeting were: Messrs W. A. Kiely and A. J. Abbott. It was stated that the association’s professional, John Lambie, would commence his tour for this season at Bulls on March 19. and that other requests for his services were coming in freely. It was also decided to engage James Watt cn the same terms as Lambie to do a tour of the clubs in the far north. The Hawera, Poverty Bay and Oamaru Clubs are all endeavouring to secure the services of permanent professionals for the season, so that it would look as though there are openings for a few more professionals. It was resolved to proceed with the standardisation of the bogeys of courses by fixing a standard scratch score in accordance with information, which is now being asked for, from the clubs.

The following clubs have notified the secretary that they are holding Easter tournaments this year and the dates will be advised in the council’s report to the clubs this month:—Otago, Auckland. Wellington. Manawatu, New Plymouth. Nelson, and Christchurch.
