AIRSHIP SERVICE ACROSS ATLANTIC.
MAY BE STARTED DURING THIS YEAR. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. LONDON, March 6. Air Y ice Marshal Sir William Sefton Brancker, addressing the Institute of Transport, stated that the first regular airship route would probablv be to Canada, whither two airships, to carrv 100 passengers and now being constructed, are likely to be flying in 1928. The route would be via the Azores. A service to Egypt may also be organised. The airships would not compete with shipping, but would be a useful supplement. Applauding Mr Hinkler’s flight, Sir Sefton said: “If one man can do that without ground organisation, with properly improved aircraft and organised night flying we shall be able to do the Australian journeys in 180 hours. This is within reach in five or six years if we get down to it and spend money.”—Aust. and N.Z. Press Assn.
